Craignethan Castle

Approximately 6 miles from Clarkston Farm.

Managed by Historic Scotland, Craignethan Castle was built by James Hamilton in the early 1500s.

Entry is a very reasonable £3.70 per adult (£1.85 child 5 to 15) and is open every day between 9.30 and 5.30, April to September.

Black Hill Fort (NTS), only a 10 minute walk from the farm, where a Bronze Age burial cairn and an Iron Age fortress once stood.
